portraits // josie. | dayton, ohio portriat photography

last weekend, my girls (eastlyn + lydia) and i met josie.  she's a girl that has followed our work for years, and for that reason, has a place in our hearts.  we don't consider ourselves to be anything special, but josie does.  and i think i can safely speak for all three of us and say that it inspires us greatly, and keeps us going.

if i sat in a room with two of my favorite photographers, i'd be incredibly awkward and intimidated out of my mind.  while secretly FREAKING OUT inside, i'd be trying to sound like an intelligent admirer who doesn't want to look like a fangirl.  i'd try to be real and mature and put-together, while probably choking on my words and asking dumb questions like what they had for dinner last night.

and so naturally, i expected the sixteen-year-old josie to be the same.

she proved me wrong.  we sat around eastlyn's dinner table and had a completely normal conversation for nearly two hours.  whenever there started to be a lull, josie would ask another question, almost as if she was a journalist for a living.  she wasn't afraid to say that she admired us, but she never put us up on a pedestal.  she was intelligent, eager, sweet, unafraid, unintimidated, mature, and calm.  whether or not she felt this way is probably a different story, but it truly never appeared that way.

josie, your visit made for such a lovely afternoon.  you are a wonderful lady with evident talent and a shining future :)  thank you for following us girls and making us feel like something special!
